Enabling Ugandan women to pursue life-saving medical treatment for cervical cancer.

Bridging the gap.

The majority of women living outside of Uganda’s capital city, where the only cancer treatment facilities in the country exist, cannot afford the cost of seeking cancer treatment, and as a result, many will die from their disease.

Funds raised through Road to Care go towards medical tests and treatments, as well as transportation, accommodation, and nourishment for patients who would otherwise be unable to access treatment.

Support for Patients

The successful treatment for a patient, depends not only on availability of funds to pay for her treatment, it requires the patient to spend up to 8 weeks in the capital while she receives her treatment. In addition to treatment costs, Road to Care ensures that associated travel, accommodations and food costs are all taken care of to allow a patient and her helper to stay in Kampala for the duration of her treatment.

Partnering with Local Organizations

We partner with established local organizations in Uganda to ensure that Road to Care’s program is carried out in an efficient, accountable, and culturally sensitive manner.

Help us save lives

Women are often the primary caregivers for children, the elderly and sick. By enabling women to receive treatment, we can help families stay together (often a challenge due to the stigma of illness) and ensure they are able to return healthy to their communities.

The combined cost for a single Ugandan women to receive treatment and ensure she will have a place to recover, warm meals and safe transportation to and from Kampala is approximately $470 CAD. This is more than a year’s wages for many families living in Uganda’s rural communities. With your help, we have already sent over 1000 patients diagnosed in a curable stage of cervical cancer, to be treated in Kampala since 2009. Your financial contribution will help save lives and allow more cancer patients become survivors.

Any contribution you can make will make a difference!

“If it were not for very generous people who I have never met, my cancer would have progressed. I don’t know how long I would have lived.”

— C.K., Road to Care patient treated in 2016. She remains cancer free.
