Support for Patients The successful treatment for a patient, depends not only on availability of funds to pay for her treatment, it requires the patient to spend up to 8 weeks in the capital while she receives her treatment. By enabling women to receive treatment, we can help families stay together (often a challenge due to the stigma of illness) and ensure they are able to return healthy to their communities. The combined cost for a single Ugandan women to receive treatment and ensure she will have a place to recover, warm meals and safe transportation to and from Kampala is approximately $1000 CAD. This is more than a year’s wages for many families living in Uganda’s rural communities. With your help, we have already sent over 1000 patients diagnosed in a curable stage of cervical cancer, to be treated in Kampala since 2009.
